ST. ANN PARISH, Sebring holds its Annual Garage Sale 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 29-30 and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. July 31 in the church hall. Household items, clothing, appliances and tools will be offered. A bake sale will also be held. Proceeds to benefit the Youth Ministry Program.

ST. WILLIAM PARISH, Champion, holds its annual rummage sale 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Aug. 5, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 6, and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 7. Bag Day, with the option of two different-sized bags, will be Aug. 7. Light hot dog lunch available for purchase.

 

PARISH FESTIVALS

OUR LADY OF MT. CARMEL PARISH, Youngstown, holds its 12th annual Italian Festival July 22-25. Activities include nightly entertainment, Little Prince and Princess Pageant, rides, magic shows, homemade wine-tasting contest. A procession has been added this year after the noon Mass. “Italian Made Simple” classes are being offered 7-8 p.m. nightly, with Matthew Saborse, Howland High School teacher. Free shuttle service and parking available. Daily admission is $3 or a book of 4 passes for $5.

ST. PATRICK PARISH, Hubbard, will hold its annual festival Aug. 5-8, featuring rides, food, raffles, casino games and Texas Hold’em. Free entertainment: Chasing June and Del Sinchak band in church basement on Thursday; Hern Brothers Band and Jack Vasko on Friday; Edison’s Medicine (‘80s band) on Saturday; and County Mayo (Irish), Ernie Valley’s Elvis Show and The House Band on Sunday.

 

TRIPS AND TRAVEL

ST. PAUL PARISH, Salem, has openings on its Aug. 14 bus trip to COSI (Center of Science and Industry) in Columbus. The trip includes an audio tour of the traveling Titanic Exhibition with its re-creations and actual parts of the sunken ship and hundreds of authentic treasurers, and admission to the 7-story Extreme Screen Theater to view a 3-D movie on Dolphins and Whales and to all the other COSI exhibition halls. From Monday to Friday, Aug. 9 to 13, service begins at 7 p.m. (with DVD of Father John Corapi’s conversion story shown on Thursday). On Saturday, novena continues at All Saints, with Mass at 5 p.m. (Vigil of Feast of the Assumption), followed by Living Rosary in five languages at St. Anthony Parish at 6 p.m., followed by Mass at 6:30 p.m., with ethnic desserts. SOUP KITCHENS/PANTRY

ST. ANN PARISH, East Liverpool, serves hot meals for the needy 3-5 p.m. Tuesdays in the parish hall.

ST. MARY/ST. FRANCES CABRINI PARISH, Conneaut, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society provides a soup luncheon at St. Mary Hall 11 a.m.-2 p.m. the last Saturday of the month. Free of charge.

ST JOSEPH PARISH, Massillon, St. Vincent DePaul Society has a soup kitchen noon-1 p.m. every Monday in the school building.

ST. BARBARA PARISH, Massillon holds a food pantry 6-7:30 p.m. on the 3rd Thursday of the month in the Parish Life Center. Available to all in need from Lillian Gish Boulevard to all on west side of Massillon. 

SUPPORT PROGRAMS

ST. MICHAEL PARISH, Canton, hosts the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Support Group 7-8 p.m. every Sunday in the church. Anyone whose life is touched by mental illness (personally or through a family member or friend) is welcome to attend. BLESSED SACRAMENT PARISH, Warren, is the meeting site of HOPE WORKS, a job-networking group for those seeking employment, at 9 a.m. the first and third Tuesday of the month at Holy Family Hall.
